Pulwama Attack- The Black Valentine’s Day

When the entire nation was engulfed in the pleasant mood of attending their loved ones, some unfortunate met the plight of leaving their loved ones for the heavenly abode. They are the CRPF Jawans who lost their lives in an IED blast at Pulwama on February 14, 2019 – the Valentine’s Day. The lips, which would have uttered words of love and affection to their near and dear one, felt silent and received adieu from their lives. Neither was there any war nor any massacre, but these unfortunates lost their lives by falling in the clutches of some conspirational and shameful deed of persons having the capabilities to breach national security.

This deadliest terror attack since 1989 followed a sequence of such militant attacks straightforwardly challenging the National Security capabilities. In last five years, the region of National Security importance faced many militant attacks which can be outlined as follows:

Henceforth, on February 14, 2019, another bloodshed took place in form of IED blast which hit a convoy of 78 vehicles carrying 2500 CRPF Officers and Soldiers from Jammu to Srinagar. At Lethapora near Awantipora, around 15:15 IST, a bus carrying security personnel was rammed by a Mahindra Scorpio SUV carrying explosives. It caused a blast which killed at least 46 CRPF personnel of the 76th Battalion and injured many others. The injured were moved to the army base hospital in Srinagar.

Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack. They also released a video of the assailant Adil Ahmad Dar alias Adil Ahmad Gaadi Takranewala alias Waqas Commando, a 22-year old high school dropout from Kakapora who had joined the group a year ago. Pakistan denied any involvement and Jaish-e-Mohammed leader, Masood Azhar, roams free in that country.

Jaish-e-Mohammad has a great involvement in most of the militant attacks in India. Although Pakistan is not taking any responsibility and protesting against the allegations, yet, it is this nation only where Masood Azhar, leader of the deadly militant gourp is moving freely. We all know that supporting evil is equivalent to doing evil. Pakistan must take appropriate action to banquish such antisocial elements from their lands or else, it automatically claims the involvement of Pakistan in all these massacres.

The incident shook the entire nation. This event plays a pivotal role in arising question to National Security and Integrity as well. If the soldiers who plays paramount role in protecting nation from invasions and foreign threats are not safe, what is the standard of safety of the ordinary citizens of the country. Many silence sessions, candle march and condolence ceremonies were conducted all over the nation, but these can never fulfil the gap of the CRPF Personnel who lost their lives in the IED explosion. On the day in which love is celebrated across the world, India received a bloodshed which lit fire of revenge, hatred, sorrow and protest in hearts of all Indians.

The IED explosion at Pulwama shook the entire nation which can be felt from the words of some of the most notable personalities of India. We are now left with nothing other than praying for the peace and liberation of the souls of martyr CRPF Personnel at Pulwama blast. Let their soul rest in peace with ours burning in the flames of antagonising pain succumbing any type of feeling of mercy or compassion to any person, organisation or nation who is directly or indirectly associated with this misdeed.
