As the colonial era parade brigade grounds in kolkata decks up to host one of the biggest opposition rallies ahead of the loksabha election 2019 it is yet again an oppertinity for the old veteran to etch its name in history.
More than 20 national leaders including three present chief minister Arvind Kejriwal,HD Kumaraswamy and Chandrabhaba Naidu and firmer chief minister Omar Abdlullah, Farooq Abdullah, Akhilesh Yadav attended the rally. The event called the ‘united india rally’ against the Narendra Modi-led BJP in upcoming loksabha election.TMC has made all efforts to make the event a grand success.Congress chief Rahul Gandhi is skipping the #UnitedIndiaAtBrigade rally. But earlier today, Gandhi sent a message to “Mamata di” and extended his support to the rally, hoping “that we send a powerful message of a united India together”. Senior Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Abhishek Manu Singhvi are expected to represent the party at the rally likely to be attended by lakhs of activists and supporters.
The Trinamool Congress has made elaborate arrangements for lakhs of party workers assembled in Kolkata for tomorrow’s rally. At Kolkata’s Gitanjali Stadium, where workers from Malda and Murshidabad will be accommodated, the TMC has fitted CCTV cameras, two giant tents, CCTV cameras, made a help desk and a health kiosk for the activists. Three other major camps having the same facilities are Central Park (for workers from North Bengal districts) in Salt Lake, Uttirna (workers from Purulia and Bankura) and Khudiram Anushilan Kendra.Lakhs of TMC supporters and workers arrived from various corners of state.
BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha will also attend the anti-BJP rally in Kolkata. Notably, Sinha has been the critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a number of issues.
With BJP’s recent defeats in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Mamata Banerjee has raised the pitch even higher to be united against the BJP in the Lok Sabha Elections
2019 .
